After a busy few months, there’s a brief moment for us to tell you about the success of 2017 so far.
Having entered our farmhouse medium (scrummage) and dry (haymaker) as well as our two bottled products (Dabinett medium sparkling and Original dry sparkling) in The Taste of the West Awards this year, we were thrilled to hear that we’d picked up a Silver Award for each variety entered. This is just reward for all of the Harry’s team who are always aiming to produce premium quality cider. However, next year we hope to go one better and win four Gold Awards!
Having picked up a few awards along the way, there’s always been one award that Harry has had his sights on – The Arthur Davies Cup at The British Cider Championships. This was judged at The Royal Bath and West Show 2017. First prize of class 5 (taste and presentation) and class 8 (single variety cider) were both blind tasted against one another, by some of the most respected judges from around the country. Having won the First Prize in the Single Variety category for Harry’s Dabinett was great, but to win the Arthur Davies Cup was the icing on the cake. Andy Atkinson of Cornish Orchards congratulated the Harry’s team at their stand at The Royal Bath and West Show, having been one of the judges. In his words – ‘it’s a cider that you just don’t want to put down, it’s fantastic.’
